This is where I make no sense about Lex, Clark, and Lana....

So I was wondering about Smallville today and the fact that Clark has a new boy *cough* guy friend. A friendship that has no definite ending unlike the Clark and Lex friendship we all knew was doomed. [*tear Clex Forever!*] Clark has Chloe, Lois, Martha, Ollie and for some reason even Lionel. He has a progression with these people. I mean I can see the stories evolving with these characters meshing together.

But Lex as of right now only has Lana. Now I am not a cheerleader for the Lexana. I don’t even have a logical reason for it. I’m just weird that way about that pairing. But if/when they break up who the hell is Lex going to talk to in this little SV world of ours? Lionel? Sure maybe more of the cat and mouse games but anything else?

Lana will move on to either try to “redeem” herself to everyone or stand up for herself in her new bravado-like mind. I don’t know how this season will further expand on her but she’ll definitely need to be active in trying to establish her role with others (like with Clark, god help us) if/when it ends.

Lex will what? Be all evil and talk to side characters only about his future plans. Bump into the rest of the Clark gang and glare at them. Has his character already been baked to perfection that they’re done with him? Is his relationship with Lana the last variable in this?

So what do you think? Is the Lex character pretty much one note evil guy and done once they break up? I’m thinking maybe (don’t shoot!!) All of this just gets me thinking that the Lexana is here to stay for awhile because what else are they going to have Lex do in SV? Backtrack or hold his character so he’s only quasi evil? Lex has done shady things already but they give us his reasoning for it. If they break them up Lex must grow to Mr. Luthor status and that’s a part of when SV is done.

Clark’s journey is still on the doughy side. He has his hero points he still has to get…but all Lex has left is Lana? That’s just not right.

I think I just want more Clex scenes? That's what this is about I'm sure.

I want more good Clex scenes. I found Sneeze Clex in the greenhouse was a thousand times more interesting than Reunion Clex. I'm hoping that if we can't have as much Clex, we can at least get quality scenes, not just bickering in a corridor over Lana *sighs* Their relationship is about a lot more than that.

And my theory is that Lana is being set up to become Mrs Luthor and future wife of the President (just a slight twist from canon that had her as wife of vice-President Pete). And I don't think that Lana is going to save him, but that they will become evil and corrupted together. IMO the outfits in Wither pointed to Lana being by his side, but not as a good influence

Thanks for replying!
Lana as First Lady never entered in my mind but wow if that's where they're going. I sincerely hope that Lex takes her to the dark side but I want more Lex without her in it.

And yes the little showdown in the green house is exactly what they need more of.

My theory is that Lana will die. It will be a horrible accident that could have been avoided, had Clark AND Lex each done something different. I believe THAT is what will drive Lex completely over the edge (because no, he's not there yet if he can truly love Lana), and what will push Clark out of Smallville forever.

And Clark will blame Lex for Lana's death, while Lex blames Clark for Lana's death. Hence the "rift."

You're right in the idea that Lex is ultimately alone. Even his father is in Clark's camp now. I recently commented to [ profile] herohunter, "Is there anyone in Smallville now who DOESN'T know Clark's secret?" I was joking, but honestly it seems Lex and Lana are alone in their blindness to Clark's true self. Oh, and Lois I guess. But I think both Lex and Lana suspect enough of the truth to have figured it out pretty well. And I believe that Lana is with Lex for the long haul. She is already changing, losing scruples to "help" Lex. I don't see her going anywhere that doesn't involve Lex.

Yeah Lana's an evil sith lord in training as is Lex apparently. As much as I would LOVE it if she gets killed in the end...I don't think the writers have the balls to do it. Though I really really REALLY want your scenario to play out because that sounds awesome!

Should it still be labeled Clark's secret? It's more like Clark's clubhouse! Poor Lex didn't get invited *giggle.*

I think you're right. How depressing. I suppose that makes it more likely that this is the last season.

It is all sad that SV is giving off ending vibes isn't it? Maybe the writes have something up their sleeves and surprise us with a great plot this next half of the season. I just feel a little bored with Lex now and that has never happened. Clark on the other hand still has some character driven stuff to go through.

I also want more Clex scenes (where they don't bore me by talking about Lana.) I'd like to see them circling around each other: Lex still after Clark's secret (and ass); Clark, investigating Lex's plots (and ass.)

I'd also like to see Lex bring in Hope & Mercy (and have them kick Lana to the curb!)

A kicked Lana---Check
Lex's Ass--Check
Clark's Ass-- Double Check
DC's Hope and Mercy--OMG YAY! Check
Yup that sums up a plot for a Great SV episode.

I'm sure that's what it is :D

It's an excellent question. Barring a seventh season pickup, I think they can logistically have his entire relationship with Lana be the thing that pushes Lex over the edge. I don't like that that's the catalyst, but there you go. If they break up before the season is over, I can see him dealing more with Lionel, which will keep Lex engaged in the Kents' life. If it goes for a seventh season, then I don't know how they'll be able to have Clark and Lex interact. Hopefully lying down.

Them lying down together sounds like the perfect season seven arc. I really wanted Clark and Lex to be each others push into their future selves. It just doesn't seem that there doing that anymore. But I am in no way a writer so I hope they have something up their sleeves that I'm just not seeing.

P.S. Sorry for the delayed reply. Your comment never went to my inbox and I do love it when people comment. : )
